Engagement Units

Engagement requires strong internal units for successful engagement programming and scholarship across teaching, research, and service. While this list is not exhaustive, the following MSU units are critical to the development and integration of the best practices for engagement scholarship. The list includes primary units who conduct engagement, along with supporting units from the Divisions of Academic Affairs, Research and Economic Development and Agriculture, Forestry and Veterinary Medicine, and The Office of Public Affairs.

Alliance for System Safety of UAS through Research Excellence

ASSURE the Federal Aviation Administration’s Center of Excellence for Unmanned Aerial Systems.

Animal Health Center

AHC is open to the public and serves as an extension of the primary care veterinarian, providing emergency and specialty referral care for companion animals, as well as emergency, primary and specialty referral care for horses and livestock in the region.

Carbon Climate Collaborative

Is a group of interdisciplinary scientists that support land, water, and energy management for profitability and sustainability in the agricultural and forestry sectors.

CAVS Extension

Supports Mississippi's automotive industry, other OEM's, and small to medium size manufacturers, providing advanced technical expertise in the areas of product and process improvement and technology transfer.

Center for 4-H Youth Development

Provides educational programs related to youth development, targeting youth ages 8 to 18.

Center for Advanced Vehicular Systems

CAVS is an interdisciplinary center that provides engineering, research, development, and technology transfer teams focused on solutions to complex problems in areas such as autonomous vehicles, materials science, high-performance computing, advanced controls, and human-machine interaction.

Gulf Coast Community Design Studio

Provides professional assistance that increases the capacity of local communities and organizations to address issues of housing, public space, and neighborhood development.

High Performance Computing Collaboratory

HPCC is coalition of member centers and groups that share a common core objective of advancing the state-of-the-art in computational sciences and engineering using high performance computing.

High Voltage Laboratory

Serves as an independent, non-industrial, university center for high voltage engineering.

Insect Rearing Center

Is a federal program that offers supplemental and supportive educational services to ensure that migrant children have access to all opportunities that a public education offers.

Mississippi Water Resources Research Institute

Provides a statewide center of expertise in water and associated land-use and serves as a repository of knowledge for use in education, research, planning, and community service.

MSU Extension

MSU-ES is a unit housed in the Division of Agriculture, Forestry and Veterinary Medicine that includes approximately 700 university employees with 138 faculty located on the university campuses and Research and Extension Centers.

MSU International Institute

A university-wide center that serves as the administrative hub of MSU’s international research and education programs.

National Research and Training Center on Blindness and Low Vision

NGI is a National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Cooperative Institute partnership of six complementary academic institutions and NOAA addressing important national strategic research and educational goals.
