Engagement Goals
The following 10 goals were developed from the university’s community engagement mission, the transformational plan process, the task force recommendations, and the scholar of engagement paradigm, which include:
- MSU will reach more individuals, groups, communities, and businesses through engaged educational programs using an organized engagement system to include transformative credit and non-credit course and program offerings, micro credentials, stackable units, digital learning, etc.
- MSU will increase student enrollment at the undergraduate, graduate, and continuing education levels through the university’s engagement strategy, initiatives, and programs.
- MSU students will engage in more experiential learning to increase their personal and professional growth through the application of learning, systems thinking, civic engagement, diversity, and inclusion, etc.
- MSU will increase our partnerships by engaging more with groups, communities, and businesses through engagement programming to address needs.
- MSU will reach more individuals, groups, communities and businesses and industry with engaged research program integration to address societal problems, issues, and opportunities that will strengthen and advance the scholarship of engagement through innovative research partnerships and documents.
- MSU will increase our support for the faculty and staff to enhance engagement programs through engaged teaching and research through course and program planning, implementation, and evaluation. The MSU administration will work with the Holland Faculty Senate to revise the MSU Faculty Annual Evaluation form, MSU Faculty P & T Application, MSU Faculty Handbook (revisions required) and develop the MSU Faculty Guidelines for Effective Engagement to better support the faculty’s scholarship of engagement.
- MSU will reward our engaged faculty, staff, students and partners across MSU’s teaching, research, and service missions.
- MSU will promote the university’s brand strategy while increasing engagement scholarship and service.
- MSU’s Transformation Change Team will support the development and implementation of the university’s engagement goal, Elevate Our Community, through the MSU Engagement Plan.
- MSU will maintain the Carnegie Classification as an engagement institution.
