Core Engagement Areas at MSU

Since the last Carnegie reclassification application in 2020, MSU has identified the core areas of the university required for the successful coordination and management for engagement programming. According to the University Leadership Council Education Advisory Board, a Land-Grant university’s core areas should include:

These programs emphasize lifelong learning, professional development, and career and technical training, engaging deeply with local industries for workforce development and utilizing innovative delivery methods to enhance accessibility. MSU leverages its extensive engagement infrastructure to coordinate educational and service programs across various colleges and units, developing tailored workforce education and leadership programs that meet specific community and business needs. Additionally, MSU offers practical, community-oriented education that links university research with real-world applications, supporting both local economic development and the professional growth of individuals.
