Partnership Principles
Mississippi State University has excellent partnerships with many communities, stakeholder groups, government agencies, businesses, and industry. These partners have been developed and nurtured over time by our faculty, staff, students, administration, alumni, and the partners themselves. These partnerships are deeply rooted in working together to solve problems and improve the quality of life. Through real engagement, our challenges are best solved by working collaboratively, utilizing a diversity of talent and creativity. MSU continues to strengthen and increase our partnerships on the following guiding principles that include:
Establishing a relationship of trust with our partners through effective communication strategies for the mutually beneficial creation and exchange of knowledge and resources.
Having an awareness of the partner’s values, needs and challenges.
Being committed to collaborating on research (discovery) projects; teaching, providing knowledge through instruction (integrating and sharing knowledge); and helping our partners apply the knowledge (becoming practitioners).
Sharing resources and responsibilities for mutual benefit and collective impact.
Being accountable in performance and outcomes and impacts.
Recognizing and rewarding our partners and the work achieved.
